12/14/09 The "final Bruins' celebration" was the theme of the banquet held at the Eagles' Club on Sunday night. Pro players Shane Halter and Joba Chamberlain were the guest speakers along with fellow coaches and former players. It was a capacity crowd giving their final farewells to Bob Steinkamp as manager and coach of the Beatrice Bruins. 10/14/09 The final banquet will be held at the Eagles' Club in Beatrice on Sunday, December 13th. Tentative guest speakers will be Joba Chamberlain, Shane Halter, and Mike Anderson. Adult tickets will cost $30 and student tickets will cost $15. A filet mignon meal will be provided. Join us for the final banquet to recognize all of the people who made the 40-year program possible. As is customary, there will be a silent auction for sports memorabilia. Net proceeds from the banquet will go to the Light Fund for Christenson Field. For tickets, contact Bob Steinkamp at 402-239-8000. His name is Madden and he is 6lbs. 13 oz. The Bruins split the final two games of the season, winning game 1 (4-0), and losing game 2 (4-3), to the Sedalia Bombers. 7/16/09 The win streak is extended to nine as the Bruins win a pitchers dual against the Junction City Generals on Thursday night, 2-1. 7/14/09 The Bruins win their 7th straight as they defeat the A's, 9-8 and 7-1. "Click" on the link below. 7/12/09 The Bruins extended their win streak to five as they defeated the Mustangs on Sunday night, 3-2. 7/11/09 The Bruins took a double-header from the Golden Giants on Saturday night, 10-0, and 6-2. 7/10/09 On Friday night, the Bruin's defeated the A's at Municipal Stadium, 2-0, behind the strong pitching of Jordan Roualdes who gave up only 3 hits and had 14 Ks. 7/9/09 The Bruins and the A's were tied, 8-8, when the game was suspended on Thursday night. The game will be resumed at 6pm on July 14th. 7/8/09 The Bruins rebound to defeat the Mudcats, 9-2, in the final game of the series. 7/7/09 Chillicothe defeated the Bruins, 3-0 and 1-0 on Tuesday night. The Bruins could only muster 5 hits in the double-header. 7/4/09 The Bruins fall to St. Joe, 8-2, to snap their six game winning streak. 7/3/09 The Bruins extend their winning streak to six with a 5-2 win over Clarinda on July 3rd. 7/1/09 The Bruins defeated the A's on Tuesday night, 5-1. Game 2 was rained out. 6/27/09 The Bruins took a home doubleheader from the Joplin Outlaws on Friday night, 6-3 and 6-0. Stephen Kohlscheen earned the win, and Shane Minks earned the save. Randall Thorpe and Mark Ramos each had three hits. 6/20/09 Saturday night was to be the Bruins' 40-year celebration. Due to bad weather, the celebration will take place on Sunday night, 6/21/09, at Christenson Field. Please come and take advantage of free admission, free pork barbecue, and free ice cream and enjoy the 7:00pm ball game against the St. Joe Mustangs. 6/17/09 The Beatrice Bruins will celebration 40 years of summer baseball Saturday night, June 20, at Christenson Field in Beatrice. All fans will be admitted to Christenson Field free of charge. A special pre-game ceremony will commemorate the Bruins' 40th anniversary and will include presentation of the colors by a local color guard, singing of the National Anthem by Bruins host sister Megan Decker and the throwing out of the first pitch. All former Bruins players and coaches in attendance will also be recognized, as well current and former host families. Former players are asked to sign in at the Bruins memorabilia table before the start of the pregame ceremony, which will begin about 6:45 p.m. Game time between the Bruins and Junction City, Kan. will be 7 p.m. Other events during the evening will include free homemade ice cream, a special Bruins BBQ pork sandwich sold at the concession stand and team trivia between innings. While the ceremony and game will be Saturday night, the Bruins will also be honored earlier in the day during Beatrice's annual Homestead Days Parade. Bruins manager Bob Steinkamp has been selected as the grand marshall for the parade, which begins at 9 a.m. in downtown Beatrice. The plan is for current players to ride behind Steinkamp's "official grand marshal vehicle." 6/15/09 Stats are updated for games played thru 6/14/09. 6/14/09 The Topeka Golden Giants split Sunday afternoon's doubleheader with the visiting Beatrice Bruins. Topeka won game one 2 to 1, but lost the second game 6 to 2. 6/11/09 The Bruins won their 1st Conference game on Thursday night by defeating the Topeka Golden Giants, 4-2. Mike Mariot pitched 7 innings of no-hit ball and Stephen Kohlscheen picked up the save. Tyson Parks had 2 of the 3 Bruins' hits and an RBI. 6/7/09 Ben Carrel with SENE Sports will be broadcasting several games on www.SENEsportsonline.com. Check the "Schedule" link for available games. Memberships received before June 1st will be advertised in the 2009 Beatrice Bruins Yearbook. 2/25/09 Congratulations to Bob Steinkamp as he is selected to the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held at the American Legion in Garland, NE, on 3/22/09. See OWH Article at the link below! 2/19/09 The Bruins' 40th season is only three short months away. 2008 brought much success as the Bruins won the MINK league and finished 3rd in the NBC National Tournament. We hope to match that success in '09. The MINK league will be tougher this year as Sedalia, Joplin, Nevada, and St. Joe have been added to the league. 12/8/08 Another successful banquet is in the books as Joba Chamberlain attended for the 3rd year in a row. The speakers were: Jerry Taylor (NBC National Tournament), Bob Herold (UNO Head Baseball Coach, Mike Anderson (UNL Head Baseball Coach), Ron Cullison (SCC Head Baseball Coach), Bob Steinkamp (Bruins Head Baseball Coach), & Joba Chamberlain (NY Yankees' Pitcher). The 2008 Beatrice Bruins' Banquet will be held on Sunday, December 7th, at the Senior High School. Joba Chamberlain will again be the featured Speaker at the banquet. Also, the NU Baseball coaches, including Mike Anderson, will also be in attendance. Ticket costs are $30 for adults and $15 for children up to age 18. Doors open at 4pm. Get your tickets early as the 2007 banquet sold out in 10 days. For tickets, please call Bob Steinkamp at 402-239-8000.
